Cops barged in, beat up my daughter-in-law, alleges Bulandshahr violence accused's mother

LUCKNOW, Dec 4 (Agencies): Mother of one of the accused in Bulandshahr violence incident Tuesday alleged that a group of policemen barged in and vandalised her house. She further alleged that the cops came without any woman officer and beat up her daughter-in-law.
“I was not at home but villagers say that 70 policemen came without any women official and vandalized the house, they even beat up my daughter-in-law,” alleged Ratan, mother of Jeetendra, one of the accused.
Four persons were arrested Tuesday after police lodged an FIR against over two dozen people for rioting and murder in connection with the violence here, officials said. As many as 27 people have been named in the FIR, registered around 3 am, while cases have been lodged against 50 to 60 unidentified people, they said.
Violent protests erupted in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday over alleged illegal slaughterhouses in the area. Protests started after villagers found cow carcass in a jungle in Mahaw village. Angry villagers and members of various Hindu groups brought the animal remains in tractor-trolley to the Chingarwathi Police Chowki and demanded action against the culprits. They raised slogans against the police administration and blocked the Bulandshahr-Garh highway.
In the subsequent violence, Uttar Pradesh Police Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and 20-year-old Sumit lost their lives. The two deaths resulted in a massive uproar with fingers being pointed at the state government.
Briefing the media on the four arrests, Anand Kumar, ADG, UP Law and Order, said, “We have made four arrests on the basis of video footage and oral testimonies. We are also in the process of identifying another 50 people from available video footage from the site of the incident. An SIT has also been formed to ensure that the investigation is absolutely fair. Arrests would only be made on basis of evidence and no innocent would be penalised."
Kumar, however, confirmed that Yogesh Raj - the prime accused, has been named in the FIR but has not been either arrested or detained so far.
Deceased inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, who had once probed the infamous Akhlaq lynching case, suffered a gunshot injury in addition to wounds from hard and blunt objects. Singh’s assistant was also seriously injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
