MUMBAI, Dec 13: The name King Kohli to present India captain Virat Kohli was first given by Kunal Gandhi, claims an Indian fan, now living in Australia.
"During India's tour of Australia in 2014, I wanted to gift him a jersey but did not want to write only his name without adequate adjective. He was in form then and suddenly the word King came to my mind and I presented him a jersey with his name King Kohli on it. He gave his autograph on the jersey and people have started him calling King Kohli", an IT consultant Kunal Gandhi, speaking exclusively over telephone from Sydney said.
"He has been ruling the attack of the opponents and thus is justifying the name". The 36-year old Kunal Gandhi hails from Anand (Gujarat State) and has been living with his wife Sapna and son Mahit in Australia since 2006.
Incidentally, he met Kohli during India's recent trip and introduced his son, who got Man of the Match (School) on the same day. "I reminded Kohli about the King Kohli jersey to which he thanked me again".
"He also advised my son to keep working hard and wished him to become a cricketer". Kunal Gandhi has passion for the game and is fond of collecting memorabilia items from the ICC auction.
He has in possession the cricket balls used in the 2013 Champions Trophy played in England between India and Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan and India and South Africa.
"All these balls, authenticated by the respective match-referees were bought from the ICC auction", he further added.
