Take action against functionaries of missionary schools

SRINAGAR, Dec 13: A city court here has issued directions to Crime Branch (CB) to take necessary actions regarding alleged embezzlement of funds worth crores of rupees by the functionaries of some prestigious missionary schools operating in Kashmir.
The court directions came in the wake of criminal complaint alleging that the representatives of prestigious missionary schools including Tyndale Biscoe, Mallinson and Kashmir Valley Schools, besides fleecing parents, use funds aimed at imparting quality education to the children for their personal benefits.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar following serious allegations leveled by the complainant (applicant) against respondents (accused) directed Station House Officer (SHO) police station Crime Branch Kashmir to take necessary action and submit detailed report on the issue on 28th of this month.
The complainants Rajan Sandhu, bona-fide member of All Saints Church and Isaac Samuel a member of Saint Paul Church Amritsar have in their complaint alleged that the accused have indulged in illegal and corrupt practices ranging from embezzlement of funds meant for missionary purposes to illegally transferring the society’s assets to their own kith and kin.
“The unchecked activities of the accused persons in league with each other have caused decadence of institution and have robbed the general public and the parents of trust in these educational institutes by their illegal and punishable acts,” reads the complaint.
The complaints have accused the Principal and Director of the Tyndale Biscoe School Parvez Samuel Kaul of abusing his authority by selectively turning the society into his own advantage by neglecting the affairs of the educational society.
“That the illegal conversion of society assets into personal assets needs a thorough investigation of competent authorities as in case of Tyndale Biscoe, Mallinson Tangmarg which spreads across an area of 19 kanals of land have been purchased in the name of accused No 2 while another 7 kanals in the name of accused no 3 using money of the society as reflected in the books of accounts,” complaint adds.
The others mentioned as accused in the complaint includes Pardeep Kumar Samantaroy, Chairman of Joint Management Committee and RT Rev. Bishop of Amritsar, Joyce Kaul, Headmistress Mallinson and Kashmir Valley Schools, Rahul Rex Kaul, Administrator of Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson Schools, Jaman Singh Thapa, Chief Accounts Officer of Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson Society and Vijay Dhanvantri, Accounts and Estates.
