2 security men hurt in Pak firing in Poonch

MENDHAR, Jan 10: An army officer and a BSF Head Constable were seriously injured in Pak firing from across the border in village Tarkundi on the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of Mendhar in Poonch district on Thursday.
Pakistan army also resorted to firing targetting Indian forward posts and civilian areas on the Line of Control in Rajouri district.
PRO Defence Lt Col Devender Anand, though denied any sniping incident yet confirmed the ceasefire violation, stating, “Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Balakote sector in Poonch, Rajouri sector in which two security personnel sustained injuries. There was, however, no sniping incident.”
Local sources stated, “Today at about 13:45 hours, Indian army 15 JAKLI & 59 BSF launched a search operation in forward area of village Tarkundi near3 OP post of 59 BSF. During search operations bullets were fired from forest area on operation party as a result an army officer and a Head Constable of BSF were seriously injured.”
Pakistan yesterday also had violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked on the Line of Control targetting forward posts in Gulpur area of Poonch.
Pakistani army, for the past ten days, has been resorting to unprovoked firing and violating the ceasefire agreement on the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri sectors. Meanwhile on international border, infiltration attempts were also foiled by the BSF jawans in Ramgarh sector of Samba and Arnia, R S Pura belts of Jammu.
