It's not the end of the he road for him, says chief selector

MUMBAI, Feb 6: Dinesh Chandimal, who led the Sri Lankan Test team in Australia was taken into confidence before being dropped him.
"Yes, we did speak to him before dropping from the squad", Ashantha dear Mel, the chairman of selectors, speaking exclusively over telephone from Colombo, said on Tuesday, minutes after the team was announced.
He did not disclose who conveyed the sad news to him, but it is learnt the task was handled by the sports minister Harin Fernando, who was in Canberra and witnessed the Test on all four days.
"It is not the end of the road for Chandimal. He was not in his usual form and therefore we thought his playing in domestic tournament would make him to regain the firm. Once he gets back to his form, he will be considered for the home series against New Zealand (after the World Cup)", de Mel added.
Interestingly, the selectors have not announced reserve players. "We are playing only two Tests in South Africa before the Limited Over matches and a strength of 17 is adequate. If required an emergency player can be sent".
Relatively, few new comers are chosen in the squad. "We need to prepare the back up team and considering the performance of the new players, they are picked for the Test side".
Half the players of the current squad have played fewer than five matches. Few players are joining the team on February 9.
The minister returned to Sri Lanka Tuesday night, whereas the other members of the team who are not selected for the South Africa team are returning tonight. The batting coach is reaching Durban from London on Wednesday.
