J&K faces Uttarakhand in Santosh Trophy opener on Feb 11

JAMMU, Feb 9: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir shall be playing against Uttarakhand in a group-B inaugural match of the 73rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy North Zone (qualifying round) at Katra on February 11.
The first match of the day-one shall be played between Chanidgarh and Delhi at 11 am, the inaugural match is scheduled to be held at 2 pm soon after the formal opening of the tournament by the Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar, who has consented to be the chief guest.
Secretary, J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), Naseem Javed Choudhary told that It was endeavour of the Governor, Satya Pal Malik and Advisor (Sports), Vijay Kumar to take sports beyond the boundaries of twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar by way of holding the mega events at other districts. So, it was decided to expose the qualify infrastructure raised by the SMVDSB at the national level by taking events of repute to the holy town of Katra.
JKFA president, Zameer Thakur disclosed the fixtures amidst naming of the state team. He said that JKFA makes all out efforts to take sports to the district level in the entire state despite constraints.
