‘Fresh spell of rain, snow from Feb 13’

SRINAGAR, Feb 10: Even as the weather conditions have improved in Kashmir, the weatherman today predicted fresh spell of rain and snow from February 13.
Sonam Lotus, head of the Met department today tweeted," Expect another spell of rain in plain and snowfall on higher reaches of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh during February 13 to 15. This spell will be of lower intensity and snow accumulation than the previous one."
He added that looks like, this will be followed by another spell around February 18 and 19.
Presently Kashmir is having sunny days. However, the night temperatures decrease due the clear sky leading to cold wave conditions.
Srinagar recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature last night, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg it was minus 8.0 and minus 10.0, respectively.
Most water taps were frozen in Srinagar. People lit small fires around the water pipes to defrost them.
In the Ladakh division, Leh town recorded minus 6.6 degrees Celsius and Kargil minus 21.0.
Drass town was coldest in the state with minus 21.5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Jammu recorded 7.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 6.5, Batote minus 0.6, Bannihal minus 1.0 and Bhaderwah minus 1.8 as the night's lowest temperatures.
