‘Main Sirf Governor Nahin, Mukhya Mantri Bhi Hoon’

JAMMU, Feb 10: Governor Satya Pal Malik Sunday dismissed the accusations of “politicization of Governor House” stating that to “present his perspective on cutting remarks aimed at his (Governor’s) office was not politics” as at present, he was not “just Governor, but the Chief Minister as well.”
Malik was responding to media queries, on the sidelines of a function at Katra, about his criticism by National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and others accusing him of “politicizing the Governor House with his statements and moves.”
“Kya Governor House Sirf Isliye Hai Key Governor Golf Khelta Rahey? Governor House Rashtrapati Ka Numainda Hai. Rashtrapati Ki Dilli Mein Sarkar Hai. Tum Roz Usko Gaali Dogay To Koi To Uska Jawab Dega! Main Sirf Itna Karta Hoon Kay Jo Hamari Sarkar Ka Drishtikaun Hai Woh Kehta Hoon. Main Sirf Governor Nahin Hoon, Main Mukhya Mantri Bhi Hoon To Jis Sarkar Ki Main Numaindagi Karta Hoon Uska Viewpoilt To Mujhe Dena Padeygaa…Yeh Kaun Si Politics Hai? (Is Governor in the Governor House meant only for playing golf? Governor (House) is the representative of the President here. The President rules from Delhi. Every day you use abusive expressions, make cutting remarks against him then it is incumbent upon someone (representing him here) to retort. Being his representative, I only present perspective of our government…I’m not just Governor, I’m the Chief Minister as well (at present). Hence I’m duty bound to present the viewpoint of the government (office) which I’m representing here. So how come this is politics…,” he responded with another query.
When asked about his decision vis-à-vis divisional status to Ladakh which created political ripples across the state and thus also prompting NC, PDP and others to demand similar (divisional) status for “Chenab Valley” and “Pir Panjal,” he said, “As far as divisional status for Ladakh was concerned, it was decades old, genuine demand. Still we had constituted a committee to look into its all aspects and then decision was taken after deliberations. As far as their demands (for other regions) are concerned…Jab Woh Sarkar Mein Aayengay, Bana Lein ..(They can do so after they come to power).”
Responding to questions about the demands for action against Major Shukla for allegedly torturing a Valley youth, the Governor reiterated, “I stand by our forces. I’ve already said that the action is taken when probe indicts a person.”
Earlier while addressing the gathering, in a function organized jointly by the JAT Sabha Chandigarh, Panchkula and Rahbre Azam Deen Bandu Ch.
