JAMMU, Feb 11: Former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have reacted sharply to the incident of clash between the stranded passengers and students of GGM Science College in Jammu on Monday.
Criticising, what she said, “attack on stranded passengers”, she tweeted, “Apart from being viciously attacked, they were asked to leave for Pakistan. J&K is undoubtedly an integral part of India. But what will you do with a piece of land when its people feel such resentment? How do you intend to win over their hearts & minds?”
“How will you inspire them to feel love for the nation when certain elements are hell bent on creating a communal atmosphere backed by toxic Hindutva? Where will this lead us?” Mehbooba further tweeted.
In the meanwhile, Omar Abdullah also criticized the incidents while drawing parallel between the people offering food to stranded passengers on the Highway and Jammu incident.
“Well done. Contrast this with the reports of some students who are reported to have pelted stones on Kashmiri passengers stuck in Jammu & told them to go to Pakistan. Shame on those students. I hope the administration is looking in to those reports & taking action,” Omar tweeted.
Omar also used the opportunity to target Governor S P Malik on this account, as he tweeted, “As usual the fringe assumes the right to speak for the majority. The majority of people in Jammu have never espoused these views. It’s a shame that our usually loquacious Governor is silent about this.”
