Attack on Kashmiris

SRINAGAR, Feb 19: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) a conglomerate of various employees unions today called for complete strike in all government offices on February 22 to protest attacks on Kashmiri’s in Jammu and other parts of mainland India.
“We stand with our Kashmiri people be it students, businessman or employees. Since we cannot go beyond our sphere of influence we appeal all the government employees to observe complete strike on February 22, Thursday to protest unremitting attacks on Kashmiri’s in Jammu and other parts of India,” said EJAC President, Fayaz Shabnum addressing media here.
EAJC leader alleged that government’s failure to tackle the unrestrained goons who keep on targeting innocent people throughout India has created a sense of insecurity among every Kashmiri.
He said every Kashmiri be it a government employee, student or businessmen is unsafe in view of the growing incidents of violence which broke out in the aftermath of the killing of 49 security forces personal in an attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama last week.
“We support every decision of trade bodies and civil society as we are no different than them. This is our collective responsibility to stand united at this juncture. Our students, employee’s businessmen are targeted in India and we cannot maintain silence over what happens around,” Shabnum added.
Shabnum said that 15 female and 7 male students have been expelled from different colleges and universities in India which he said will have a direct bearing on their future.
Criticizing the government for failing to tackle frenzied mobs, he said government has been watching atrocities as a mute spectator which clearly displays its double standard.
EAJC leadership said the employees put-up in government quarters in Jammu have been witnessing tough times in absence of essential supplies.
“We condemn in strong words whatever is happening in Jammu. We demand that the goons involved in acts of arson be booked and stern actions taken against them,” he added.
He also thanked members of Sikh community and other groups who lend a helping hand to helpless Kashmiris in this hour of distress and crises.
“I am very much thankful to Sikh community and every other group or individual who lend helping hand to Kashmiris. We appeal them to take care of Kashmiri’s till situation limps back to normalcy,” said Shabnum.
