‘Rs 10 lakh fake Indian currency, 2 kg heroin seized’

JAMMU, Mar 9: Police claimed to have arrested a narcotic smuggler with fake Indian currency worth Rs 10 lakh and 2 kg heroin at LoC gate No 488 in Balakote area of Poonch Saturday evening.
“J&K Police team of Poonch district in association with 7/11 GR of army achieved a major success by recovering 2 kilogram of heroin like substance (Narcotic drug) and 10 lakh of fake Indian currency in the denomination of Rs 400 notes of Rs 500 and Rs 400 notes of Rs 2000 denomination during routine naka checking from a bag of one drug peddler at LoC gate No 488 in the jurisdiction of Police Post Balakote this evening,” said a police spokesperson.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Zaffar Khan son of Shabir Khan, resident of village Dabbi Balakote.
“In this connection the drug peddler was arrested along with the contraband and a case FIR No 40 /2019 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act and 489(c) of RPC was registered at Police Station Mendhar,” police said.
