NIA summons Mirwaiz to Delhi for questioning

SRINAGAR, Mar 9: Eleven days after a raid at his residence here, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) has been summoned by NIA to New Delhi for questioning in a funding case.
Mirwaiz has been asked to appear before the probe agency on March 11.
“Whereas, it appears that you are acquainted with the circumstances of the case noted below, which is now under investigation by the NIA, New Delhi, you are hereby required to report before the undersigned at National Investigation Agency, Ministry of Home Affairs, Opposite CGO complex Lodhi Road, new Delhi on 11-02-2019 at 10:30 am for the purpose of your examination relating to the case,” said a notice, issued to the Mirwaiz by the NIA.
The central probe agency had registered a case in an alleged funding case in 2017.
NIA had conducted series of raids 11 days again on the residences of separatist leaders including Mirwaiz and Mohammad Yasin Malik besides at the residence of Naseem Geelani, son of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G). Naseem too has been summoned to Delhi for questions. He was questioned several times last year by NIA in Delhi.
Malik was booked under Public Safety Act by governor administration and sent to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu few days back.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest today after he was summoned by the NIA.
Senior Hurriyat (M) leader, Bilal Lone told media that he, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat and his lawyer were no allowed to enter Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz.
“We were barred from entering inside,” he said.
