KEG protests against govt's ban on Advts to 2 newspapers

SRINAGAR, Mar 10: Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) today held a protest at Kashmir Press Club here against the government's ban on advertisements to Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Reader.
Senior editors and journalists took part in the protest to demand revocation of ban on advertisements to the two English dailies.
A KEG member said that the government was yet to respond to their queries over the ban on advertisements to the dailies.
In February, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, under Governor Satya Pal Malik, had suspended advertising to the two newspapers without specifying a reason.
Major English and Urdu newspapers in the state have published blank front pages to protest the state government’s suspension of advertising to the dailies.
The first pages of the newspapers part of the Kashmir Editors Guild read: “In protest against unexplained denial of government advertisements to Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Reader.”
