SHRC issues notice to govt on shifting Yasin to Jammu jail

SRINAGAR, Mar 13: The state human rights commission today sought response from government on a petition, seeking shifting of JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik from Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail to Srinagar, reports a news agency, GNS.
Malik, who was detained on February 22, was lodged at Kothibagh police station here prior to his shifting to Kot Bhalwal jail.
In this regard, SHRC chairperson Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki issued notice to commissioner secretary home department for detailed report regarding shifting Malik from Kot Bhalwal jail. Malik was booked under PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail.
“(JKLF chairman) is a well-known political worker and is renowned personality throughout world and pleading the cause of their people with peaceful means and also working for amicable settlement of the state of Jammu and Kashmir which is internationally long pending recognized dispute in the world,” reads a petition filed
The petition has been filed by International Forum for Justice Human Rights J&K through its chairman Mohammad Ahsaan Untoo.
