Mirwaiz returns after 3 days of questioning by NIA in Delhi

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Valley’s chief cleric and Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq finally returned to Srinagar this evening after facing investigators in alleged funding case for three days at NIA headquarters in New Delhi.
Mirwaiz who flew to New Delhi along with his team members and supporters on Monday arrived at Srinagar International Airport this evening at around 5: 30 pm.
He was summoned by NIA probing alleged money laundering case in Kashmir thrice over the past one month.
Mirwaiz was accompanied by party senior leaders including Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Masroor Abbas Ansari and his lawyers.
It is pertinent to mention that the chief cleric was supposed to return Kashmir on Thursday was denied traveling back to the valley by probe agency.
He was questioned by the investigators for three consecutive days at NIA headquarters in New Delhi and finally allowed to return Kashmir as his questioning is over as of now.
The chief clerk citing security reasons earlier refused to travel to Delhi for questioning and shot a reply to NIA to change venue from New Delhi to Srinagar.
He also said that he will cooperate with investigators as he has nothing to hide provided the venue is changed from Delhi to Srinagar.
NIA which probes alleged funding in Kashmir however assured Mirwaiz that his security concerns will be properly take care of and will be provided with adequate security.
