Cop dies in road accident

SRINAGAR, Apr 21: A police man died in a road accident in Baramulla district.
Giving details, a police spokesman said that a cop Shafoor Ajaz Wani son of Ghulam Hassan Wani resident of Zandfaran, Sheeri met with a road accident near Veerwan in district Baramulla. The deceased was on his way to DPL Baramulla.
"Shafoor Ajaz was on a motorcycle when an Alto car hit the motorcycle injuring him grievously. He was evacuated to hospital for the treatment of his injuries. However at the hospital he succumbed to his injuries," the spokesman said.
He added that police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at police station Baramulla. The Alto car JK05F-4668 has also been seized. The accused driver fled from the spot and police is making efforts to arrest him.
Shafoor was the lone bread earner for his family. He is survived by wife Sakeena and three minor children aged nine, seven and one.
