Demand severe punishment to guilty

SRINAGAR, May 10: Protest demonstrations were today held in Sumbal in Bandipora against the rape of a three year old girl.
They protestors were demanding severe punishment to the accused, who was been already arrested by police.
Reports said assembled at Chenabal area of Sumbal and took to streets. They were joined by people from other neighbouring areas also.
The three year old girl was allegedly raped by a local man in the village.
According to reports the incident took place at Malikpora, Trehgam area of Sumbal.
Police in its FIR had said the accused was 20 years old.
Acting on complaint of the victim’s family, police arrested the accused, identified as Tahir Ahmad Mir (20), son of Abdul Rehman Mir resident of Malikpora, Trehgam, Sumbal.
Today the people demanded severe punishment to the arrested person
“The one who raped the girl is above 25 years old and he should be hanged,” a protester was quoted by media.
The protesters while raising slogans demanded stern punishment against the culprit, “Since governor heads the state right now. We appeal to him that severe punishment be given to the rapist, so that our mothers and sisters feel safe.” Another local said.
Locals allege that some people are trying to shield the culprit by showing him a minor, “He is not a minor, but some people are trying to shield the rapist," local alleged.
