Trucker dies in Poonch

RAMBAN, May 12: One person died while two others were injured on Sunday in two separate road accidents on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district.
In the meanwhile, a trucked driver was found dead today under mysterious circumstances near Peer Ki Gali on Mughal road in Poonch district. He was noticed dead when the vehicle was stuck in a traffic jam at Mansar near Peer Ki Gali while it was on its way back to Jammu after delivering banana stock in Srinagar.
On the other hand in both incidents at Ramban, the truck drivers lost control over the wheels when negotiating blind curves and their vehicles skidded off the road and fell into deep gorges, said a police official.
The official said that a truck rolled down into a deep gorge near Jaiswal bridge and ended up at the banks of river Chenab near Karool in Ramban district. The incident occurred as the driver lost its control and plunged into the gorge, the office said. He said that one person identified as Mohammad Shafi died on spot while another person injured was identified as Umar Ahmed of Qazigund.
The official said that one more person was injured after another truck skidded off the road and plunged into deep gorge on the highway. In Chanderkote area, this truck plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge near Kunfer on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The truck was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar.
Its 20-year-old driver, Shahid Ahmad, suffered injuries.
The official said that both the injured were shifted to district hospital Ramban.
