Rape accused held in Ganderbal, man arrested for 'burning' wife

SRINAGAR, May 14: Police has arrested one person for alleged raping a teenager in Ganderbal.
Cops have also arrested a man in Handwara for allegedly burning his wife, who is under treatment in hospital now.
Giving details a police spokesman said that police station Ganderbal received a complaint of an alleged rape of a teenager from Ganderbal district on May 12.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 98/2019 under Section 451/376 RPC, Section 04 POSCO Act was registered at police station Ganderbal.
A police team immediately arrived at the spot and arrested the accused person who is also a resident of Ganderbal. The accused remains in police custody.
"As a part of investigation, the victim has been medically examined. A special team has been constituted to fast-track the investigation of the case in a professional manner," the spokesman said.
He added that in another incident, Handwara police received an information that a woman (name withheld), resident of Handwara has been admitted in Handwara hospital with burn injuries.
Immediately, officers from a local police unit rushed to the hospital and they learnt that the husband of the lady is reportedly involved in the commission of offence.
The accused has been arrested and remains in police custody.
A case FIR No 99/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Handwara and investigation is going on.
Moreover, experts from FSL and photo-recording team have been dispatched to the spot for collection of evidences from the scene of crime, the spokesman added.
