Man injured in bear attack Girl electrocuted in Sumbal

SRINAGAR, May 19: A girl was electrocuted to death in Marqundal area of Sumbal in Bandipora district this morning.
An official said that a 17-year-old girl identified as Samiya Bano, daughter of Abdul Rasheed was electrocuted when she came in contact with a live wire inside her home at Marqundal area of Sumbal.
She was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead on arrival, he said, adding that after completing all legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives for last rites.
Meanwhile, a middle-aged man was critically injured today when a wild bear attacked him in Kangan area of Ganderbal district.
Reports said that a 38-year-old man identified as Nazir Ahmad Gojar (38) son of Abdul Rashid Gojar, a resident of Hayan, Palpora in Kangan was attacked and injured by a bear when he was grazing his cattle in the nearby Sindh range forest area.
The injured was shifted to sub-district hospital Kangan for treatment.
