Operation called off in Yarwan

SRINAGAR, May 21: The cordon and search operation launched at Yarwan forests in Shopian district was called off this evening.
Reports said the militants are believed to have managed to flee from the forest area.
Earlier a gunfight raged between militants and security forces during the operation this afternoon
Reports said a joint team of army’s 23 Para, 44RR, SOG and CRPF had launched cordon and search operation in Yarwan forests.
A senior police officer also told media that contact has been established with the hiding militants.
Reports had suggested presence of two to three militants in the area, who fled from the cordonned area.
