SRINAGAR, May 23: National Conference (NC) President and party’s winning candidate from Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah today pinned hopes on new dispensation at the centre to resolve Kashmir issue by engaging all stakeholders including Pakistan in dialogue process.
Farooq who won Srinagar-Budgam seat with huge margin amid boycott hoped that the new government at the centre would do justice with Jammu and Kashmir by engaging Pakistan in fresh dialogue vis-à-vis Kashmir.
He said 2019 parliamentary election was not easy as the issues that involve Kashmir like Article 35A and 370 was a serious challenge for them to embark upon.
“This Parliament will not easy. Several serious issues like Article 35-A had cornered Kashmir and we had to deal with them and tip over the plots to do away with the constitutional law. Besides they want to divide the Muslims and Hindus in the country and we have to fight that as well," said the NC President.
He said that India belongs to every Indian be it Hindu or Muslim and safeguarding the constitution drafted by every individual is their prime responsibility.
“We hope the new government would do justice with us and positively engage Pakistan in fresh dialogue process to make people of Jammu and Kashmir come out of the quagmire,” he added.
Farooq Abdullah while thanking his party cadre for the landmark victory of National Conference on all three parliamentary constituencies of the valley said it’s the victory of the people who trusted him and the issues raised by the party during election campaign.
“I thank (NC vice-president) Omar (Abdullah), our party leaders and the people of Kashmir, especially the people of Srinagar constituency all the mothers, sisters, elders and youth for supporting NC," he said.
