Two bovine smuggling bids foiled, thirteen animals rescued

RAJOURI, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district foiled two separate bovine smuggling bids in Kalakote area and rescued thirteen animals from the possession of smugglers.
A team of police headed by SHO Kalakote Tahir Khan under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera Brijesh Sharma and Addl SP Nowshera GL Sharma was on routine patrolling on Rajouri Kalakote road when a Tata mobile JK11B 4762 was intercepted and found loaded with bovines which were rescued and driver smuggler of vehicle identified as Asif Mahmood son of Mohammad Hafeez resident of Palangarh Thanamandi was arrested on the spot besides seizure of vehicle.
A FIR 48/2019 under sections 188, 295-A, 3 PCA Act has been registered in Kalakote police station.
Similarly, a smuggler Nasir Ahmed son of Mohammad Shabir resident of Palangarh Thanamandi was found smuggling bovine by foot on road.
The smuggling bid was foiled and accused smuggler arrested on the spot while a case FIR 49/2019 under sections 188, 295-A RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered.
Further investigation is on to ascertain the modus operandi of the smugglers.
