Youth killed in Pouni mishap
REASI, Jun 9: A woman died in a tragic road mishap on Sunday while her husband an army Major, their two kids were among five critically injured when the car, in which they were travelling, collided with a truck near Katra in Reasi district.
In a separate accident, one person died while two others sustained injuries when a mini-bus skidded off the road in Pouni in Reasi district this evening.
First mishap occurred at Maghal Katra when this afternoon at around 1345 hours one Pollo car bearing registration no HP33D - 4224 hit a truck, bearing registration no JK02AJ – 4519, from behind resulting into on spot death of one woman car passenger identified as Pooja, 28, wife of Major Kartik, resident of Mandi Himachal Pradesh. Five other car passengers sustained critical injuries. They were immediately shifted to CHC Katra and later they were referred to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi-Narayana Super-Specialty hospital at Kakrayal.
Injured persons were identified as Major Kartik, 32, Kayaan, 3, son of Major Kartik, Kiyush, 2, son of Major Kartik, all residents of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Ravinder Singh, 32, son of Sohan Singh resident of Kuarti, Himachal Pradesh and PSO to Major Shreeshine, a resident of Hyderabad. They all were presently stationed at Thathi, Akhnoor J&K.
“All of them were shifted to the CHC Katra where Army officer’s wife was declared as brought dead,” official sources said. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased woman was shifted to the mortuary room of CHC Katra.
Police have also taken the cognizance of the incident.
In a separate accident, one person died while two others sustained injuries when a mini-bus skidded off the road in Pouni in Reasi district this evening.
“Today one minibus bearing registration no JK02J 4045 while coming from Pouni to Bhambla skidded off the road near Laiter, in which one person Rakesh Kumar, 24, son of Bishan Dass resident of Garan Jagir died on the spot and while other two persons suffered minor injuries. Body of the deceased was shifted to Pouni Hospital,” police informed.
