Jawan killed in Pak firing in Poonch

POONCH, Jun 10: An army jawan was killed on Monday as Pakistan shelled forward Indian posts and villages on and along the Line of Control (LoC) in Shahpur sector of Poonch district.
Indian side too retaliated in equal measure thus resulting into heavy exchange of fire between two sides along the Line of Control in Shahpur sector of Poonch district.
Police said, “This morning Pakistan army violated ceasefire and used mortars and small arms to target forward Indian posts and the villages in the Shahpur sector of Poonch district.”
Army spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand, while confirming ceasefire violation, said, “This evening at around 04.50 PM, Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling mortars and firing small arms along LoC in Shahpur sector of Poonch district. Indian army retaliated and gave a befitting reply to the enemy.”
Local sources, however, said, “Pakistani army used heavy weapons and resorted to mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district in which an army jawan was seriously injured.” “Pak army opened unprovoked fire from their “Ring Control”, “Neza Pir”, “Dhok” forward borer posts with small and heavy weapons targetting forward Indian posts viz., “PP1”, “PP2”, “Sher”, “Shakti.” Indian jawans firstly restrained later on they responded with equal caliber. However one of our jawan Javid of 4 Grenadier was seriously injured in Pak shelling.”
He later succumbed to his injuries, they added.
