NIA attaches Asiya’s house

SRINAGAR, Jul 10: National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached the house of incarcerated Dukhtarn-e-Milat (DeM) Chairperson, Asiya Andrabi at Soura area on the city outskirts here this morning.
Sources said that NIA sleuths appeared at the main entrance of Asiya Andrabi’s residence at Iqbal Colony, 90 ft Soura this morning with order of attachment approved by the state police chief under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
They said the NIA team after pasting the attachment order’ copy left the scene. The property according to the order belongs to late Mehmooda begum wife of Ghulam Hassan Shah, mother in-law of Asiya Andrabi.
Andrabi who is presently under judicial custody at New Delhi’s Tihar jail according to the order issued by Chief Investigation Officer NIA, Vikas Katheria is alleged to have acquired the property from proceeds of militant funding.
“NIA has a reason to believe that the property represents proceeds of terrorism,” read the order, adding the house was used by DeM for “furtherance of terrorist activities”
NIA has further directed the concerned to refrain from transfer, sale or otherwise deal with the said property in any manner, without proper permission.
NIA Chief Investigation Officer who also represents probe agency as Superintending of Police said the property was attached after approval granted by the DGP, Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir has granted his approval to attach the property in accordance with the provision of section 25(1) of UA (P) Act vide his order No, 6518,” reads the order adding it is further directed to all concerned not to transfer, sale or otherwise deal with said property in any manner whatsoever except with the prior permission of the undersigned.
