Fresh batch of 3967 pilgrims leaves Jammu

JAMMU, Jul 16: A fresh batch of 3967 Amarnath pilgrims on Tuesday left Bhagwati Nagar base camp in the winter capital for cave shrine in South Kashmir amid rains.
The fleet of 167 vehicles ferrying pilgrims was escorted by CRPF personnel in jeeps and on motorbikes.
For Pahalgam route, 1741 male, 455 females, 35 children and 121 sadhus left the base camp in 93 vehicles while for Baltal, 1112 male, 485 females and 18 children left in 73 vehicles including buses and LMVs.
Total 167 vehicles left the base camp for both the routes including 63 HMVs, 97 LMVs and five motorcycles.
The first batch was flagged off from here on June 30 by the Advisor to Governor K K Sharma.
Multi-tier security arrangements have been made for smooth and successful conduct of 46-day long Yatra concluding on August 15 on the occasion of Sharavan Purnima (Rakshabandhan). In the meanwhile on the 16th day of the ongoing Yatra, 11,538 Yatris paid obeisance at holy cave and, till date, 2,05,083 Yatris had received darshan of the Shivling at the holy cave.
