2 arrested for killing shopkeeper: Police

SRINAGAR, July 16: Baramulla police arrested two individuals Aqib Bashir and Aqib Shalla for their alleged involvement in the killing of a shopkeeper Sameer Ahmad Ahanger.
Giving details a police spokesman in a statement said on June 30, at about 8.45 PM militants fired upon 28 year old Sameer at Azad Gunj Baramulla. In the attack, Sameer received critical gunshot injuries and later succumbed.
"Accordingly, a case FIR No 112/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered and the investigation was initiated. A SIT headed by ASP Baramulla was assigned to carry out the investigation in the instant matter," the spokesman said.
He added that during the course of investigation, officers spoke to Aqib Bashir and Aqib Shalla residents of Old Town Baramulla and learnt of their involvement in the killing of shopkeeper Sameer Yousuf.
Subsequently incriminating materials including weapon of offence, a pistol used for the commission of crime was also recovered by police.
Another associate Uzair Amin who was part of this group and involved in the killing of shopkeeper Sameer Yousuf later joined the proscribed militant outfit HM.
