Workshop on “Curriculum Reforms” concludes in JU Home Science Deptt

JAMMU, Sep 17: A two days workshop on “Curriculum Reforms” was organized by the Deptt of Home Science, University of Jammu under RUSA Scheme (Phase II) from 16th Sept. to 17th Sept. 2019.The theme of the workshop was “ Updating and restructuring course curriculum for Master Degree programme in Human Development”.
The Chief Guest, Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, while speaking in the workshop said that RUSA provides an excellent platform for University for initiating research and academic activities in tune with the changing times and thanked the government for providing liberal assistance to carry forward the agenda of RUSA.
Prof Shashi Manhas, Head of Department, welcomed the resource persons and enlightened the participants about the objectives and expected outcome of the workshop. The workshop started by reviewing the existing syllabi.
Resource persons of the workshop, Prof. Sudha Chikara, Retd. Professor, Dept. of Human Development & Family Studies, Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar, Prof. Jatinder Gulati, Dept.of Human Development, COHS, PAU, Dr. Vinita Bhargava, Dept. of Human Development & Childhood Studies, Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, Prof Arti Sinha, Dept. of Human Development, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, PUSA, Bihar, Prof. Tejpreet Kour, Dept. of Human Development, CoHS, Punjab Agricultural University, critically analysed the course contents and gave very valuable inputs. They stressed on the skill development of skill based curriculum, which can be put into practice using different learning resources. Resource persons laid stress on the designing of the courses that are more creative and innovative and problem based. They also shared their research experiences while interacting with the scholars.
Entire faculty of the Deptt. Of Home Science including Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Dr. Smridhi Arora, Dr. Sarika Manhas along with the Resource persons reviewed the course content and gave suggestions that will help the students to acquire employment skills.
Workshop concluded by finalizing the various inputs and suggestions by the experts that will be incorporated in the revised Syllabi. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Associate Prof. Dr. Sarika Manhas.
