Mortar shells defused along Poonch LoC

JAMMU, Sep 18: Pakistan on Wednesday yet again violated the ceasefire on International Border by firing unprovoked in Manyari sector of Kathua district.
Official sources here said that Pakistani Rangers during wee hours on Wednesday fired few rounds and violated the ceasefire in Maniyari sector.
“They targeted the forward posts on the International Border in Maniyari area which falls under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station in Kathua,” they said adding the BSF effectively retaliated to the firing.
Earlier on Tuesday also, Pakistan Rangers had violated the truce agreement by firing unprovoked to target forward Indian posts and the villages on the International Border in Samba and Kathua districts.
No injury or major damage was reported so far.
In the meanwhile, the security forces today defused nine mortar shells fired by the Pakistan army from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, officials said.
Pakistani troops have been targetting civilian hamlets and forward posts along the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts with small arms and mortar shelling, they said.
“Nine mortar shells of 120 mm and 81 mm have been safely defused in the Balakote, Sandote and Basooni forward areas in the Mendhar sector,” the officials said. Some of these shells were found in village areas of the sector, they said.
