2 killed, 6 injured in Poonch accident

POONCH, Oct 15: Two persons died while six were critically injured in a tragic accident at Loran village of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district Tuesday evening.
According to police, this evening a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK12 1935 was on its way to Mandi from Loran when it skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge resulting into death of two passengers on spot and injuries to six others.
An eye witness said that as Tata Sumo fell into gorge, locals along with police immediately rescued the injured and shifted them to Sub District Hospital, Mandi where doctors declared two injured as brought dead.
The deceased were identified as Mohammed Farooq, 26, son of Mohammed Afzal, resident of Loran, tehsil Mandi, Poonch and Sajad Ahmed, son of Mohammed Shafi, resident of Loran. The injured were identified as Mohammed Din, son of Lal Din, resident of Loran, Mohammed Arshad, son of Abdul Samad resident of Loran, Abdul Hamid, son of Akbar Sheikh, resident of Loran, Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohammed Sheikh, resident of Loran, Abdul Majid, son of Mohammed Sharief, resident of Loran and Fatima Bi, wife of Khadim Hussain, resident of Loran.
Police had taken cognizance and registered a case in this connection.
