JAMMU, Oct 19: Jammu-Kathua route private passenger buses and mini-buses Saturday afternoon resumed service along the Jammu-Pathankot highway after having remained suspended since last Monday in protest against the newly set up Sarore toll plaza in Samba district.
The transporters decided to defer their indefinite strike for ten days. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of transporters presided over by Chairman All J&K Transport Welfare Association T S Wazir.
Following the meeting, the transporters stated that the government was given an ultimatum of ten days to meet their demands. “We’ve only deferred or more appropriately suspended our strike for ten in the wake of ensuing Deepawali festival and the time sought by the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to deliberate on our demands. But if our demands are not conceded by the state administration before the expiry of deadline of ten day, the transporters across Jammu region will again go to indefinite strike,” they added.
