Foreign tourists in upper reaches were seen enjoying the light snowfall in the upper reaches. Last year, the weather was mostly pleasant in October, but it snowed on November 5. Last winter was very harsh with series of major and light snowfalls and mercury level dipping too much. The bad weather led to closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway repeatedly and shortage of essentials and sky rocketing of prices.
While the Srinagar-Ladakh road and Mughal Road are open presently, but they get closed in winter for several months.
Apple growers in Kashmir are presently busy with apple harvesting season, while the paddy harvesting season is almost over.
