SRINAGAR, Nov 1: In a sarcastic tweet, the daughter of detained PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday raised the issue of forcible separation of families in Jammu and Kashmir following the security clampdown in the Union territory related to the abrogation of Article 370.
Iltija Mufti, the daughter of Mehbooba, had been operating her mother's Twitter account ever since the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir was detained on August 5. Iltija posted a tweet from a news agency showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his mother at her home in Gandhinagar.
Modi had visited his mother during his trip to Gujarat to mark the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Thursday.
Iltija described the images as "heart warming". However, she asked, “But its been 3 months since you illegally detained my mother along with thousands of politicians, civil society members & minor boys. How much longer will you separate those mothers from their sons for?"
The Jammu and Kashmir administration had imposed stringent conditions on the release of detained politicians including making them sign a bond that requires them to abstain from public utterances on recent events such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the security clampdown.
Iltija has seemingly emerged as an unofficial spokesperson for Mehbooba via Twitter.
