SRINAGAR, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir administration is in no mood to restore internet services which was blocked during the intervening night of August 4 and 5, reports KNS.
Sources within the dispensation revealed that there had been series meetings about whether internet services should be restored in Kashmir as well as in Jammu as, say officials, both the regions are limping back to normalcy.
However, series of important events which include Babri Masjid verdict and congregational prayers on the eve of Eid-e-Milad played a key role in making the authorities defer any decision for the restoration of the internet services in Kashmir as well as in Jammu.
“There were apprehensions of law and order disruption post Ayodhya verdict and also when congregational prayers on the eve of Eid-e-Milad were not allowed, adequate security measures need to be taken to foil any protest demonstration,” said sources.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed to Kashmir News Service that no decision has been taken to lift the internet gag from Jammu and Kashmir as of now.
In Kashmir Valley, internet, both mobile as well as the broadband services are blocked in entirety while as in Jammu, only broadband internet is functional.
