Mehbooba shifted from Chashmashahi sub-jail

SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti was today shifted to a quarter at M.A Road here after remaining detained at Chashmashahi sub-jail for more than three months since August 4.
The move comes two weeks after her daughter, Iltija Mufti through Mehbooba’s official tweeter handle demanded her mother to be shifted to some other location in view of cold weather conditions.
Official sources while confirming the development said that the former CM who was detained on late August 4 evening at Chashmashahi tourist hut which was later converted into sub-jail has now been shifted to M.A Road near Banquet Hall.
Sources said the step was taken in view of cold weather condition in Kashmir. They also said that adequate heating arrangements have been put in place for the PDP leader at new location.
Sources said that Mehbooba Mufti was shifted to Quarter No. 6 adjacent to Deputy CM’s official residence at M.A Road at around 4pm. The former CM remained detained at Chashmashahi sub-jail for over three months since August 4.
Sources also said that NC Vice-President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also likely to be shifted from Hari Niwas sub-jail to a quarter at Tulsi Bagh within next few days.
Pertinent to mention here that three former Chief Minister’s which include NC President, Dr Farooq Abdullah his son Omar Abdullah and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti was among hundreds of political leaders who were detained on late August 4 evening hours ahead of centre’s decision to scrap special status of Jammu and Kashmir and its division into two Union Territories.
