Investor summit soon in J&K; 40,000 local youths to get govt jobs: Lt Guv

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: In order to increase non-local investment in Jammu and Kashmir, Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on today said t the government will soon host an ‘Investor Summit’ in the newly created Union Territory.
Meanwhile, the LG said that 40,000 educated local youths will soon be adjusted in different government departments in the UT.
“We want investment in J&K, so we have already initiated process to host an Investor Summit, which will be held soon in J&K after situation normalizes in the valley,” the LG said while addressing a police function in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Monday
However, Murmu said that the administration can’t do it alone and sought the help of common people in the UT to make atmosphere conducive for investment.
The LG also ‘stressed on the need for police to play greater role in restoring normalcy in Kashmir valley’, where life was slowly returning to normal after remaining affected due to strike for about 15 weeks following scrapping of Article 370 and Article 35 A.
He said that his administration was monitoring Prime Minister’s Development Package projects so that they can be completed as soon as possible. “Implementation of different development projects were being monitored by his office so that the people can be benefited,” he said.
“On the Civil force front, there is a mechanism which has been put in place for free and fare recruitment of local youths in different government departments. In some time, we will recruit 40,000 educated local youths to different government departments,” he added.
The LG also lauded the role played by police personnel in conducting Block Development Councils (BDCs) elections.
Terming the passing out parade of over 1100 policemen as a historic event, he urged them to work with zeal and dedication to serve the people of J&K. “The police department has been maintaining law and order and at the same time fighting militancy in J&K for which I appreciate them,” he said.
He said that his administration will provide every possible support, in terms of equipments and other thing, to police so that they can work with more enthusiasm.
