DEHRADUN, Dec 7 (Agencies): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India has no extra-territorial ambitions but asked the armed forces to be alert against Pakistan “which pursues terrorism as a matter of state policy”.
Addressing the Passing Out Parade of the Indian Military Academy here as the reviewing officer, Singh asked the cadets commissioned into the armed forces Saturday to take the message of service and peace to the world but be prepared to deal with a neighbour like Pakistan.
“Despite suffering defeat at the hands of India in several wars, Pakistan continues to pursue terrorism as a matter of state policy. Non-state actors in Pakistan are so strong that those in the political centrestage look no more than mere puppets in their hands,” Singh said.
Singh said those responsible for perpetrating terrorist attacks in India, were hiding in Pakistan.
“These terrorists will not be able to hide for long from the security forces and Intelligence agencies of the country, who are working in tandem, to get them arrested,” Singh warned.
Singh also asserted that the people who died in 26/11 Mumbai attack would get the justice only when the culprits would be brought to an end.
“The 166 people who died in 26/11 attack and their families will get justice on the day when those who carried out the attack will be brought to their final conclusion,” said Singh.
He also talked about the steps taken by the Centre to combat the menace of terrorism and said the multi-pronged strategy has been adopted.
“The entire world knows that if the mastermind of 9/11 and terrorist organization Al Qaeda was found somewhere, it was found in Pakistan. The whole world also knows that the people of Lashkar-e-Toiba, who carried out 26/11 attacks, are sitting there in Pakistan,” he said.
“Despite this, there is a need to be vigilant always about the threat of terrorism because in Pakistan, along with the terrorism state policy, there exist non-state actors who are extremely powerful that their role in Pakistan's theatre is nothing more than that of puppets," the Union Minister added.
