Vengeance in politics highly dangerous: Bhim to PM

JAMMU, Jan 6: Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party on Monday expressed deep shock on the reported incidents of protests by the students and others endangering the peace atmosphere and provoking the peace-loving people.
In a statement, He expressed shock on the tragic situation that several university students are resorting to violent protests. He reminded the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi that he (Bhim Singh) himself had passed through several occasions when he himself had faced the police bullets and lost his student colleagues, like Gurcharan Singh, who was standing next to him in the streets of Jammu City in 1966. He also called on police force to exercise restrain and understand the emotions of the youth in and outside the university.
He also called on Prime Minister Modi to remember his own rebellious days as a young man and student when they used to hold passionate protest that the law and order maintaining forces should uphold democratic rights of peaceful and passionate youth and students on the streets.
He reminded the ruling class that India is the largest democracy in the world which has given the message of peace, tolerance and goodwill to the whole world. Depriving peace-loving protesters of their property and dragging them to the police stations/jails and thrashing them with brutality are not acceptable in democracy nor the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India under Articles 14, 19 & 21 allowed the state to commit atrocities against the peaceful protesters.
Bhim Singh reminded the Prime Minister that he has experienced jails/police atrocities for years as a student in Jammu and Kashmir and even as a legislator besides Bhim Singh graduated in Law from Aligarh Muslim University when was allowed to appear in his final exam from Aligarh District Jail in 1967.
He urged the Prime Minister to reorganize National Integration Council representing all regional and national recognized political parties at the earliest as NIC has not been set up/reorganize by the present Prime Minister.
He reminded the Prime Minister that NIC was introduced/set-up by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963 where all the recognized political parties as well as representatives from different classes of the society, intellectuals, thinkers, scientists were given an opportunity to sit in the National Integration Council which help the Prime Minister/the Govt. to assess the public opinion of the society from different walks of life. NIC held very useful and helpful meeting under the chairmanship of the respective Prime Ministers from Jawaharlal Nehru to Dr. Manmohan Singh. He sincerely hoped that peace and secular sophistication return to the Indian political arena soon.
He also urged the Prime Minister to raise a memorial in memory of those peaceful protesters who loss their lives during the protest in support of their democratic rights including an eight year boy killed in Varanasi.
He also demanded an urgent inquiry to identify the outsiders/intruders who entered Jawaharlal Nehru University on January 5, 2020, Sunday and threatened peace in the university campus. The Prime Minister must convene NIC meet with a clear message that secularism is the only way out to promote India’s culture, national integration and solidarity among all classes of Indian citizens.
