Army foils infiltration bid

SRINAGAR, Feb 19: Army foiled an infiltration attempt by militants from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Neelam Valley area in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir last night, officials said.
The army positions on the LoC were alerted after sensing movement of militants from across the LoC and took necessary action to prevent any attempt of infiltration, they added.
The army has adopted an active approach on the LoC and attempts by the Pakistan Army to push militants are dealt with sternly, officials said.
Army chief General MM Naravane is in Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir at the moment to review the security operations in the 16 Corps area which looks after the Jammu sector mainly on the LoC.
The army chief has given clear instructions to commanders to give a befitting reply to the Pakistan Army in case of provocation by them on the LoC.
