Man injured in Lawaypora shoot-out not exonerated of charges yet: IGP

SRINAGAR, Feb 19: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar today said the youth who was critically injured during Lawaypora shootout earlier this month has yet not been given clean chit by the police.
“There is no question of exonerating him. He has only been allowed to go home for further treatment. Once his condition is stable we will arrest him, interrogate him to ascertain whether he is involved in militancy or not,” IG said.
Pertinently, Umer Fayaz a youth from Lawaypora area of Srinagar was critically injured after during shootout at Srinagar-Baramullah highway earlier this month. Two militants and a CRPF personal were killed in the incident
However the family of Umer Fayaz claimed that their son is innocent who according to them runs a poultry shop.
The family members and relatives of injured youth who was recently discharged from the hospital hold protest against labeling him as militant.
