JAMMU, Feb 27: The 3rd edition of the Pt Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament is being organised by the State Sports Council from 2nd March to 12th March 2020.The last day that is 12th March also coincides with the Nirvaan Diwas of the great leader and son of the soil and would also be a fitting tribute to the memory of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Ji who himself was an avid sportsman and a good Football player himself.
The objective behind this tournament was to encourage sports activity so that the enormous creative potential of our youth is channelised towards self development and nation building. Once our youth are directed towards sports that would also keep them away from falling prey to negative influences like drugs and violence.
It has also been agreed that the name of the Parade Stadium be named after Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, who was a great Football player himself. This demand was raised by Rajesh Gupta in the assembly and was agreed upon with unanimous voice. The naming of the stadium after the great son of the soil would be a wonderful tribute to his memory.
Since it's inception the Tournament has established itself as a prestigious event and in its previous editions there was participation of several accredited teams from the neighbouring states also. It needs to be mentioned here that the tournament was started due to the efforts of the Former MLA Rajesh Gupta and his continued patronage and support thereafter in all the previous editions. In this year's edition also Rajesh Gupta is the Chief Patron of the tournament.
This year the tournament has received great encouragement and support from the Advisor Farooq Khan. The tournament would be held at the famous Parade Ground and all the preparations in this regard are underway.
