22-year-old footballer from Sopore goes missing

Family issues an appeal for his return

SRINAGAR, July 2: While seeking the help of the administration the family of a 22-year-old youth from Sopore area of Baramulla today said that the youth has gone missing.
Reports said that the youth identified as Amir Siraj, is said to be a footballer of the area and his ‘disappearance’ has shocked the people of the area.
The family said that he went missing on June 24 and since then there is no news about his whereabouts.
It sought the help of the administration to trace the missing youth and issued an appeal to the youth to return home, if he has gone anywhere out of his own will.
The family sources said Amir went missing from his maternal uncle’s home in Adipora area of Sopore on June 24 , after he left for playing football at 05 in the evening, saying that he will return soon.
“He had not even taken his cell phone with him, which he had kept back at home
They said that he had not even taken his cell phone with him”, said the family sources.
“He has not returned back to home since then,” they added.
We have searched him everywhere on the day he went missing, but failed to trace him anywhere, they further said.
They said, “On the following day, we called all our relatives and friends, but nobody could give any clue of his whereabouts’.”
“Our family is shattered, with the disappearance of our most loved child, and his parents are pleading him to return home immediately,” family members said.
“We cannot live without you so please don’t leave us alone and come back home for God’s sake,” said a relative on behalf of the parents of the missing youth.
He said in case Amir has joined any militant group, it should send him back, as he is very innocent “If he is with any militant outfit, we request them to please send him back to his home as his parents don’t have anyone to support them, except him.”
He said a missing report has already been registered by the family in Police Station Sopore.
Meanwhile, police said they are investigating the matter and as soon it reaches to some conclusion the details will be made public; however, he clarified that it has not yet been confirmed whether he has joined militant ranks or not.
