NEW DELHI, Mar 03: The Covid-19 vaccines is not mandatory, not even for children, the Centre told the Supreme Court in response to a petition alleging their forcible administration to people, including school children.
A Bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Bhushan R Gavai were, however, not satisfied after the day-long arguments on Wednesday as it directed additional solicitor general Aishwarya Bhati on Wednesday to come out with clarifications in details and fixed further hearing on March 8.
Counsel Prashant Bhushan arguing the case on behalf of Delhi-based paediatrician Jacob Puliyel told the court that some states like Maharashtra had made vaccination mandatory for access to public utilities like local trains and buses and entry in the government offices.
