SRINAGAR, Oct31: Workers of the J&K Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) on Tuesday staged a protest at the press colony in Srinagar and demanded their regularisation besides implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and releasing of pending Dearness Allowance.
As per the news agency CNS report, the protesting employees said that they are facing tremendous hardships in view of the denial of their several demands comprising the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance, regularisation of consolidated employees and implementation of the revised Minimum Wages Act.
The Provincial Chief Spokesperson Ajaz Rasool of the body said that their employees have been continuously struggling and waiting for justice despite the fact that JKRTC has earned record revenue of all times to the tune of Rs. 193.60 Crores for the year 2022-23 due to the employees’ blood and sweat.
“We have been deprived of our legitimate rights for a long time. The authorities should pay attention to our demands forthwith and ensure the implementation of the same,” said one of the protesting employees.
They said that the skyrocketing prices of eatable items have broken their backs and are not able to meet the day-to-day expenses of their families with the meagre salaries.
“Our demands have been overlooked by the concerned authorities despite intimating them about it several times. It has been decided that in case the government remains silent on our issues, the struggle shall be intensified with protest rallies, sit-in darnas, pen down, tool down and complete strike,” the JKRTC employees said.
The protesters appealed to the authorities to intervene in the matter and fulfil their demands immediately.
