SRINAGAR, Nov 01: The family of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar has been devastated in wake of his killing by militants on Tuesday evening at his residence in Wailoo Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, leaving his seven daughters in absolute shock after their father was snuffed out by assailants.
A local news gathering agency CNS has reported that locals resident, who knew G M Dar very closely said that a pall of gloom descended on the Kralpora area on Tuesday (31 October) evening when they learnt that he breathed his last in hospital while fighting for his life.
They said the slain was the only male person in the family as they were living separately. He, as per locals, had come to his home to check the progress of their house’s construction, which was taken up by him of late.
Dar was posted in the District Police Line Srinagar where he was working as a reader to DSP DAR Srinagar.
"He (victim) was not having any kind of animosity with anyone and was of helping nature. We were shell-shocked to hear that he was killed and could not believe that he was no more among us. Our question to assailants is what was his fault that they took his life," local residents asked.
As the victim left seven daughters behind with the elder one of 28 years and all unmarried, the locals and relatives of Ghulam Mohammad Dar urged the J&K administration to assist the distraught family as they have no one to look after and most of the slain policeman's daughters are studying yet.
"Now it's incumbent upon the police department and government to provide a buttress to the family as losing of father has almost left them rudderless," locals said.
