Molestation case registered against Kashmir DHS, 3 other officials

SRINAGAR, June 6: Police has registered a case against Director Health Services Kashmir and other three senior officials of health department for allegedly trying to molest a nurse in the office chamber of health services Kashmir.
Health Minister Taj Mohi-u-Din has setup an inquiry committee headed by Commissioner-Secretary to probe the matter within a month.
Reports said that a nurse from South Kashmir’s Pahalgam Thursday evening approached police station Shaheed Ganj and lodged a complaint against Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag Dr Nazir Ahmed, Medical Superintendent, Seer, Dr Muhammad Ashraf Paddar and Block Medical Officer, Sallar, Dr Arshid Tak alleging that they tried to molest her in Director’s office chamber in Srinagar.
The nurse in the complaint told the police that CMO Anantnag informed her that Director Health Services wanted to see her in his office chamber on Thursday. She also said that when she enquired from the Director Health Services why he called her, the Director allegedly caught hold her hand and tried to touch her breasts.
“I tried my best to save myself but he threatened me with dire consequences,” the nurse said in police station. She added that three months earlier BMO, Sallar, Dr Arshid Tak, CMO, Anantnag, Dr Nazir Shadad arrived at their Pahalgam quarter and tried to assault me sexually. When they failed, next day they leveled false charges on my husband and got him transferred. Not only this, they also transferred
me to Seer Anantnag. I knocked at the doors of every political leader but all proved in vain,” she said.
She said that Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman crossed his limits and had planned to molest her. “I somehow managed to free myself and there I appealed to the police to lodge a formal case against Dr Saleem and others,” she said in police records.
Police has registered an FIR against the all the accused. “We have registered an FIR vide number 46/20014 under section 354-A against Director Health Services Kashmir and three other officers,” Station House Officer Shaheed Gunj, Nissar Ahmad said.
Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag, Dr Nazir Shadad told a local news agency said there is no truth in these allegations. “Her husband, who is a doctor was demoted a few years back and the woman is now trying to defame us,” he said.
Medical Superintendent Seer Dr Muhammad Ashraf Paddar said staff nurse was not attending the hospital and for that reason he scolded her many times. “It is unfortunate that the said staff nurse has leveled such baseless allegations against me,” he said.
Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman also said that he has firm faith in system and truth will certainly prevail.
Block Medical Officer, Sallar, Dr Arshid Tak while terming the allegations baseless and said that the said staff nurse is the better half of a doctor, who was once BMO Sallar. “I was posted at his place and since then I was not in her good books as she felt it was me who played a role in transferring her husband from Sallar to Pahalgam and later on to Block Bijbehara Bekalan to Marhama,” he said.
