DODA, Apr 21: The inhabitants of Dhori hamlet of tehsil Bharath Bagla became vulnerable due to massive landslides during the recent incessant rains. The landslides have triggered on both sides of the habitation and the inhabitants have left their houses leaving behind all their belongings due to the fear of death and destruction.
The villagers were shifted and temporarily accommodated in an under construction government building by the concerned Tehsildar. The affected families are since then putting up in the said government building. The administration has not provided any instant help to the poor inhabitants and they are left at the mercy of nature. They are continuously living in fear and psychosis. Majority of the houses are not safe to live and the house belonging to one Santa Ram Thakur has been completely destroyed. The family is presently putting up in the house of a neighbour.
Talking to media the inhabitants of Dhori alleged that despite being aware of the ground realities and the intensity of risk to the lives and property of the affected people, the authorities at the helm of affairs are not serious towards the affected villagers.
Pertinent to mention here that hamlet Dhori falling partly under village Gadyari and partly village Bharath is comprised of total eighteen families and majority of the families belong to the tribal Gaddi community.
Meanwhile, a delegation of All J&K Gaddi Shippi Tribes Welfare Association (NGO) visited the hamlet and interacted with the inhabitants. The Association urged the state government in general and district administration in particular to take necessary action and ensure early rehabilitation of the affected families on priority basis. District president of the association Ved Raj appealed all the NGOs working for the welfare of common masses to come forward for the help of the affected people on humanitarian grounds.
