Down with favouritism

Dear Editor,
I am a teacher by profession with high qualification. There are some core reasons which have annoyed teaching community to a large extent, reasons are, under due interventions by the media, other agencies and top bureaucracy. Once I remained stuck in the traffic jam which resulted in an hour’s delay in attending to my duties. I was called for an explanation by the boss which was forwarded to the next higher authority who without applying mind, placed me under suspension for 2 months. I pleaded before an officer about the cogent reason in reaching late, but the officer exercised his powers and never bothered to take heed to my plight. Finally I had to go the court where in its order the court directed the department for my immediate reinstatement as I was about to superannuate. This is the ugly face of the department where teachers are treated like a football. I would like to mention here that the officer who placed me under suspension is the same officer who allowed a teacher to stay at home instead of at school for about 15 long years and she has never attended her school during these 15 years. The teacher happens to be a close relative of a valley based newspaper editor; how the officer gave her too much long rope to enjoy at home instead of school is painful.. One can easily workout how much the teacher took away from the government treasury illegally without attending duties. It also shows that journalism is losing its credibility every passing day and may further erode, if arrogance and favouritism put to halt by the government. Some newspaper editors have in fact kept the officers under feet to achieve their personal goals which is very unfortunate. Pity mind set of the officers who come under the influence of such a selfish print media or the editor.
