Sab ka saath sab ka vikas!

Dear Editor,
K.T in its Editorial on 22nd July Titled “False prestige in space” has rightly described as false prestige for India by claiming of joining a select group of less than half a dozen countries in the matter of space technology, such countries are well developed and can afford such expensive exercises with ease. The Indian scientists have excelled in many fields and space is one of them, space technology is undoubtedly a very expensive one and billion dollars are spent on it with well developed countries, India where more than 40 per cent people live below poverty line (BPL), where teeming millions of hunger people go to sleep without meal, one third of population are without shelter. There is dire need to improve their living condition in the first place, several schemes have been launched by successive governments for poverty alleviation but net result is that greedy people usurped all the money and needy ones left high and dry. Economic disparities are on the rise. All such schemes are required to be taken care of that the benefits are trickled down to those for whom these schemes are meant for.
Moreover, the poor need safe drinking water, shelter, proper education, jobs to earn livelihood, medicare facilities for their mere survival which is in great danger in the fast changing economic scenario to keep pace with the changes taking place world over in order to achieve “sab ka saath sab ka vikas.”
